|U.A.E. Golf and Racing Club to host 'Oil Barons' Ball|
|Dubai's Nadd al-Sheba Golf and Racing Club will this week host the Middle East's biggest and most prestigious oil industry social gathering, the "Oil Barons' Ball." The event, being held on Wednesday, is under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Ahmad bin Saeed al-Maktoum, president, Civil Aviation Department, government of Dubai and chairman of the Emirates Group.
Over 1,500 prominent senior oil and gas decision makers from around the Middle East and many of the service industries supplying the sectors will attend.
"The 'Oil Barons' Ball' is now the mainline event on the regional industry's social calendar," said Eileen Michael, publisher, Reflex Publish M.E. FZ LLC, which organizes the annual honors through her magazine, Pipeline, "we expect the ball's third anniversary to be a night to remember."
The ball's guest list reads like a who's who of the regional energy sector with major players such as Shell, Dubai Petroleum, Halliburton, Baker Eastern and Schlumberger.
The ball will also witness the crowning of the third Middle East oil baron, the person judged by his peers to be an outstanding individual from within the Middle East's energy industry.
"Polling for the third Middle East oil baron pulled the largest number of votes yet in the annual award," explained Eileen.
To add glamor to the night, Viscount Oliver's Legendary Four Tops band will be the headline act. The Blue Light Band, renowned in Dubai for its repertoire of jazz, blues, soul and funk is to be the support act.
"This promises to be a night of excellent music with an international and local line-up," said Eileen. "The evening is a sparkling extravaganza featuring live music, laser light shows ensuring the evening is one that will be remembered long after the event. The overall theme for the evening is black and gold, to reflect oil - black gold. Within the regional energy sector this is a networking opportunity second to none." The "Oil Barons' Ball" is backed by the International Association of Drilling Contractors, the Project Management Institute and the Regional Clean Seas Organization.
