According to the head of the European Commission's Delegation in Lebanon, Ambassador Patrick Renauld said: "Prior to the 10th anniversary of the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership, Europe noticed an insufficiency in communication between the public of the MEDA program countries, thus the European and Mediterranean countries expanded a regional communications program."

"But it does not mean that Europe will be communicating more through this program, but rather communicating better by further explaining what we do and by accepting criticism and establishing dialogue with our partners," he said.

Renauld added that this program includes the use of the Arabic language.

The information will be communicated through a series of regional television programs in Arabic broadcast on al-Arabia satellite channel and National Broadcasting Network, and a series of supplements in Arabic and French distributed with the daily L'Orient Le Jour/ Le Commerce du Levant and As-Safir daily newspaper.

The supplement's topics include subjects such as the future of the MEDA Countries, the role and actions of the European Union in the Israeli-Arab conflict, the cultural, economic, environmental cooperation among others.

The Euro-Mediterranean Partnership and the European Neighborhood Policy are wide frameworks of political, economic and social relations between the member states of the EU and partners of the southern and eastern Mediterranean countries.

The policy consists of establishing a common area of peace and stability with these countries and also aims to create a ring of allies around the borders of the newly enlarged EU.

It also aspires to the construction of a zone of shared prosperity through an economic and financial partnership and the gradual establishment of a free-trade area, as well as the rapprochement between peoples through a social, cultural and human partnership.
