|UE Lebanon, the Euromed association agreement to be signed.|
|The Lebanese authorities in the person of Prime Minister Rafic El Harriri, have confirmed that the association agreement between Lebanon and the European Union will be finally ratified on the 17 June in Bruxelles.
This ratification which should have occured during Valence's summit, had been postponed because of the boycott by Lebanon of this meeting due to the presence of Israël and the events in Palestine.
This agreement falls under the logic of the process known as "Barcelone's process" and aims at the establishment of a free trade zone and enhanced cooperation between the European countries and their mediterranean partners in 2010, had already been subject to previous meetings that we had related in January.
One knows that the development gap between countries of the North and the South of the Méditerranean Sea of have increased over the past years, this reinforced cooperation aims at counterbalance this tendency and encourage the economic development in the concerned countries.
EU is financing programs to allow companies to take full adavantage of the opening of these new markets.
The agreement should also attract Arab investors originating from non signatories countries but willing to export their production by taking advantage of this partnership.
