|France, Kuwait to boost trade relations|
|Kuwait and France agreed Monday to activate their joint economic commission in a bid to boost their trade relations to the level of their "good political ties," a Kuwaiti minister said.
The commission will hold a meeting early next year before Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmed al-Sabah is due to visit France, Communications Minister Sheikh Ahmed Abdullah al-Sabah told a joint news conference with visiting French Transport Minister Gilles de Robien.
De Robien, who arrived in Kuwait late Sunday, held talks with Sheikh Ahmed on "business opportunities available" in Kuwait. The French minister, who has already visited the Gulf states of Bahrain and Qatar, is leading a high-level delegation that includes representatives of 25 French companies in transport, tourism, aviation and IT.
Gilles also met with the Kuwaiti premier and visited the ministry of public works where he was briefed on a number of Kuwaiti mega projects.
Reaping the fruits of huge revenues due to strong oil prices and high output, Kuwait is planning to carry out a number of such projects including a $1.5 billion causeway and airport expansion.
